We love traveling, we really do. The feeling when you get on an airplane, take off, and then land at your destination can be eventful if you love to fly, but the best part of traveling is being in a place away from home—seeing new cities, experiencing new events, and immersing in cultures. But of course, we cannot forget the airports. The airports we depart from, the ones we transition in, and the ones that we land at. Airports, just like cities, can be exciting to get lost in before and after a flight.
Though, not all airports are alike. There are ones we really dread (think Port Harcourt International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, or even the old Los Angeles International Airport). Then there are ones we can actually look forward too. These are the airports that blow our minds, and make us think “can this really be an airport?” The ones I’m referring to are Singapore Changi, Incheon International Airport and Munich Airport. The moment you these stunning airports, you’ll be transferred into a whole other dimension.
Voted Best Airport in the world four times in a row by Skytrax, Singapore Changi (SIN) can offer you so much more than shopping and dining. It’s number one on our list of stunning airports. Want to go exploring? You can visit the butterfly garden, watch a FREE blockbuster film at their movie theater, relax at one of their paid spas and shower facilities, and take a ride on the world’s tallest slide in an airport. That’s not all. There’s also The Piazza Garden, Kinetic Rain sculpture, a swimming pool, the Xperience Zone (where you can watch the latest sports on a comfy couch), a handful of other gardens, as well as, clinics and pharmacies, just in case you’re not feeling too well.
If that doesn’t amaze you yet, then you’re in for a trip. By 2017, the new Terminal 4 will be completed and by 2019 the Jewel Changi will open up, both of which will by far outdo any and all airports in the world. You’ll want to go to Singapore International Airport because what lays ahead will leave you in awe. I’m talking about a rain vortex, an Enchanted Garden, an Entertainment Deck and so much more. Want to take a sneak peek at what you can see when you’re at the airport? Here’s a short video to take you through this enchanting place.
Incheon International Airport
Voted second Best Airport in the World, Incheon International (IIA) in South Korea is another one of a handful of stunning airports, and it is nothing short of greatness. If you’re ever lucky enough to pass through IIA, and have hours to spare, you’ll be able to play a game of golf at their 18-hole putt golf course, take a nap at the Transit Hotel on the fourth floor, go to the Korean Cultural Experience to learn and make crafts, watch a performance or visit a museum. There’s also a laundry service (just in case you wanted to wash some clothes), 7 gardens (water, plant, flowers, rock, etc), spas, a free shower area, rest zones, and even a skating rink!
That’s not it. Before the 2018 Olympics, Terminal 2 is set to be remodeled with “outdoor features” including waterfalls and large gardens. Here’s what it’ll look like inside, sounds quite extravagant, don’t you think?
Last but not least, Munich Airport (MUC), number three on the World’s Best Airport by Skytrax. Traveling to Munich? Here’s what you can expect on your arrival, departure or transition at this airport.
Have a cold one at Airbräu, the world’s first airport brewery, or win some extra cash at the casino. You can also get a massage at one of the massage chairs, take a shower or relax at one of the spas. There’s also a visitor’s terrace, along with a visitor’s park where you can golf, watch a movie or even climb a hill. You can’t forget the iPilot Flight Simulator, a castle, park and water slides!
Feeling sleepy? Take a nap in one of their napcabs. A personal napping box with tons of features. See the inside of one below:
These stunning airports are on a world of their own, and a must-see on your next stopover. With vortexes, waterfalls, showers, sleeping pods, infinite shopping options and so much more, you’ll have hours to get lost—you might even miss your flight!
