It’s almost that time again to say goodbye to another year and hello to a brand new one. For some of us, celebrating the New Year means hosting a party at home, going out to an event, or even taking it easy and watching the ball drop on television. But for others, celebrating the New Year means heading far, far from home to a destination across the world for an unforgettable experience.

So if you’re looking to ring in the New Year with style in a city that’s known for being extravagant, exciting and one-of-a-kind during this holiday, then make sure book your next ticket to one of these five destinations.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong has one of the best firework shows in the world, where visitors from all over gather to watch for eight hours over Victoria Harbor. The best place to catch the epic display of lights is on a boat—there are tons of cruises to choose from. Each one offers different amenities (some with and some without dinner and dancing). For a list of the best ones, check out these Harbor Tours in Hong Kong.

But for those who are staying on dry land, we recommend you go to the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon for the best view.

The city also hosts a countdown in their Times Square, where there’s a replica ball drop just like in New York. The crowds are quite large, so if you want to celebrate in another area, head over to the bars in Lan Kwai Fong district for some Nothing cocktails (a mix of Midori, Malibu rum and pineapple juice)—a local favorite!

Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok knows how to put on a great party. There are so many places to celebrate in the city, it may be hard to choose! For the biggest events, head over Central World Mall, where you can watch a ball drop from 69 feet above at midnight, while at the same time enjoy a performance by Thai pop stars—you’ll be dancing and singling all night long.

Love fireworks? Then make sure to get a good spot along the Chao Phraya river to view the magic show of fireworks in the distance. You can also opt to reserve a dinner cruise with endless food options, free drinks, live bands and cabaret shows, all for you to enjoy before, during and after the strike of midnight.

If you want something a bit more low-key and less expensive than the dinner cruise, head over to the Asiatique night market buzzing with live music, celebrities, fireworks and tons of food.

Dubai, UAE

It should be no surprise that over two billion people gather in this marvelous city to celebrate the New Year, every year. Dubai’s Burj Khalifa hosts spectacular fireworks, cascading from each floor of the building. There is also a show at the Dubai Fountain that lasts four hours, combining lasers, fire, water and music. It’s the greatest water display performance in the world.

If you’re a beach bum, then your place is at Nasimi Beach along the Atlantis The Palm. You’ll be listening to music and dancing on the beach all night long. This is one of Dubai’s oldest New Year’s Eve celebrations—an unforgettable experience!

Kitzbühel, Austria

What’s New Year’s without snow? If you’re one to spend time in a cold place where you can ski, snowboard, sip on hot cocoa, and spend time by the fireplace, then Kitzbühel sounds like the right city for you. Kitzbühel is unique because the New Year celebration takes place on New Year’s Day. Ski instructors from the Rote Teufel ski school put on a spectacular show on the ski slopes as they light their poles and demonstrate daring jumps over fire. Last year, the city welcomed over 30,000 guests from all over the world.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava, another winter destination, boasts a New Year’s full of dance parties in the streets and fireworks over the Danube River. The city is separated into concert zones for every type of partier. You can hear some local music in one zone, and party with a younger crowd to the latest beats in another.

You can also make a reservation aboard the Lod Cafe, a boat on the water featuring two stages playing music through the decades as well as the latest hits. You’ll be able to have a front-row seat for the firework extravaganza!
