If you have yet to experience Polaris, the new business class seat on United, then you’re in for a treat.
But the seats are not the only new product—the airline has recently opened up a brand new business class lounge in Chicago on December 1st, and will open three more this year in Newark, Los Angeles and London, and two more in 2018 inside the Hong Kong and Tokyo airports.
These posh new lounges will replace Global First class lounges, however United Clubs will continue to run alongside the new Polaris lounges. For those of you who have not had the chance to experience the new club at Chicago O’Hare, here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect to see mid-year this year and on to 2018.
If you’re traveling internationally in business and first class on United, or on any other Star Alliance partner, you will be able to enjoy all that the lounge has to offer. Unfortunately, all MileagePlus and Star Alliance frequent flyers will not have access (regardless of your elite status), and instead be instructed to head over to a United Club lounge.
For you lucky travelers, you can expect to devour exquisite a la carte meals or tasty snacks in a chic dining area set in a buffet style. There are several food and beverage stations, including a self-service drink bar by the entrance. If you need a good cocktail, there’s a full bar serving some of the finest liquors and wine.
Ready to get to work? You can do so in these sleek, modern seats that are designed to be semi-private, featuring a coat hook, bag storage, pull-out table, tablet holder, and AC/USB charging ports.
Ready to catch a few zzz’s? Now you can in theses semi-private rooms with comfortable beds.
Each one comes equipped with soft lighting, a pillow, blanket, slippers, eye mask, and calming pillow mist by Cowshed. It’s the perfect way to relax right before your flight.

And if you really want to take advantage of the whole package, you can do so by taking a hot shower in their suites, which are stocked with Cowshed products such as Chamomile Refreshing Toner, Soothing Moisturizer, Soothing Hand Cream, Lavender Gentle Cleanser, Natural Lip Balm, Shampoo and Conditioner.
Mark Schwab, the Star Alliance CEO emphasized how the new United Polaris lounge will benefit the company, saying ” it’s good for United, it’s good for their customers and it’s also very good for Star Alliance, because part of that package is enhanced lounges and so the Star Alliance carriers who fly into the locations where they are building or refurbishing those facilities are going to see an enhanced product not only for United’s customers but also the rest of the alliance.”
