Flying in business or first class has many perks—priority seating, exclusive check-in, high-end kits to help you relax, amazing seats, and of course complimentary/ inclusive services you can enjoy in the airline’s reserved lounges. However, as you may well know, not all lounges offer the same amenities. Some are more basic than others, while some are unforgettable such as Dubai’s Champagne Lounge, or Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge in Istanbul.
Aside from offering mouth-watering dishes in the dining area, premium wines and liquors at the bar, and comfortable spaces to catch up with work, airlines take it up a notch by providing spa services to premium ticket holders. From free massages and facials to full-spa services like haircuts and nail care, carriers strive to give their business and first class passengers amenities that will win them over.
So which airline has the best spa facility? This year’s SKYTRAX award-winner for The Best Airline Spa Facility was Thai Airways’ Royal Orchid Spa, located in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. There you can find a large range of luxurious options such as the Touch of Silk, Royal Thai Massage, Neck & Shoulder Massage and Foot Massage. The facility has three Touch Of Silk Suites (for body massages), six Neck & Shoulder or Relaxing Foot Massage corners, two Steam Rooms, two Sauna Rooms and four Shower Rooms. Plus, first class passengers can schedule a complimentary one hour full body massage in one of their suites. And for those of you who enjoy bubble baths, you can take one after your spa treatment to help you unwind even further before your flight. It’s so relaxing—you may not want to leave.
Following Thai Airways was Etihad Airways’ spa facilities in second place, Air France in third, then Virgin Atlantic, Qantas Airways, British Airways, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Oman Air, and in tenth place was American Airlines.
