For some of us, winter is a time to stay home with family and friends, whereas for others, it’s the time to pack a bag and embark on a new journey, be it for a few days or even a week. Whether it’s to Asia or South America for the warmth, or Europe for the breathtaking snow and holiday spirit, the cold season can be the perfect time to take off into a far away land away from home.
So to help you plan your trip, we recommend the following destinations for this year’s winter getaway.
Siem Reap, Cambodia

Winter means dry weather, sun and perfect temperatures in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It’s the ideal time to visit the famous Angkor Wat, enjoy the small city by tuk-tuk, and explore the city streets by foot. Since the weather is the best as it can get in this part of the world, tourism tends to increase in this part of the world, so make sure to book your tickets soon! Siem Reap has wonderful hotels and resorts that offer you gorgeous villas, and any spa service you can ever imagine for much cheaper than what you’re used to back home.

Winter months mean amazing tropical weather in places like Belize, which also means ideal beach weather that many flock to. This small country on the north-west coast of Central America is full of marine life for scuba divers and snorkelers to explore, beach streets to spend afternoons wandering through, sites such as the famous Great Blue Hole, and historic Mayan temples. Although there’s always Belize City, we recommend you explore other parts of Belize by island hopping, to get the most out of what the country can offer.

Rather than heading to Sydney or Melbourne, Australia, book this year’s winter getaway to Hobart, Tasmania. Since it’s summer here during this time, you can enjoy warm weather all night and day. Hobart has everything for everyone—from hiking Mount Wellington, shopping and eating in Salamanca Place, stepping back in time in Battery Point with its old churches and 19th century homes, and enjoying the night out at The Glass House, a 1970s themed waterfront restaurant and bar.
