As summer itches its way towards us, vacation planning becomes a must! But with so many places in the world to visit, how do we choose the right one?

This summer, our eyes are set on vacations on some of the world’s best islands. From east to west, we’ve selected our top favorite destinations we highly recommend you add to this year’s summer getaway plan. To make it even more pleasant, these world’s best islands are not only unique, but are hidden gems we know you’ll love (and enjoy much more than the highly dense touristy spots).

Hvar, Croatia

Known for its glamorous amenities for those who like luxury, Hvar is a gorgeous island full of restaurants, bars, five-star hotels and a lifestyle fit for billionaires. But you don’t have to be one to enjoy it. Since 6000 BC, travelers have been coming to the coast of Hvar to relax and enjoy the water, beaches and overall scenery. Even today, it continues to be one of the world’s best islands with a Mediterranean atmosphere mixed in with ancient traditions.

From the 13th century St. Stephen’s Cathedral, to the wine vineyards and Neolithic Grapčeva Caves, Hvar is packed with activities for all types of travelers. And with favorable temperatures throughout the year, it’s a destination not to be missed.

Coron, Philippines

The Philippines has some of the best beaches in the world, and the island of Coron is swarming with soft white sand you want to stick your feet into. But the beach is not everything the island has to offer. Coron has other adventures including swimming in Lake Kayangan (one of the most popular places here), or in the rare salt water hot springs called Maquinit Springs. Looking for a break from the water? There’s horseback riding and camping, as well as hiking Mt. Tapyas, or voyaging through the jungle.

Coron is a remarkable place to spend a summer getaway, and with everything it has to give, it’s another island that should make it to on to your list—be it this year or another.

Ios, Greece

Greece has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and it’s become an increasingly popular tourist destination throughout the decades. And due to the unfortunately weak economy, traveling within the country is cheap—you can do more without breaking the bank. But aside from staying in Santorini or Mykonos, we recommend making plans to stay on another island called Ios.

Like many islands in Greece, Ios also offers a view of hills with white houses and their blue roofs. It’s also a wonderful destination for those who love to hike, and is known to have some of the best Greek food, ever.

But food, hiking and beaches are not the only best parts of Ios. There are archeological sites that date back to the Bronze Age, and bars and dance clubs for those who like to get out an have some evening fun.

Tasmania, Australia

Last on our list of the world’s best islands for a summer getaway is Tasmania, Australia. Located off of Australia’s southern coast, those heading to Tasmania can enjoy excursions to Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site, sail along the coast, explore the national parks to see kangaroos among other animals, and hike Mt Wellington. It’s the destination for those who love the outdoors and want a real adventure.

From rainforests, vast parks, beaches and farms, to five-star cuisines and long treks, Tasmania is rich in activities and natural sites that many have not yet seen. And, it’s a unique place that tends to be missed by travelers who visit Australia’s mainland.

If these or any other destinations speak to you, we’d love to help you get there in comfort and save you up to 70% off. Submit a flight request or contact your agent and we’ll find the best dates to travel there!
