Headphones have become essential for modern-day travel, however having the right pair can make or break the entire experience, especially for those traveling long distances. And with so many options to choose from, it can be cumbersome to decide which headphones are the best.

So to help you with the decision-making process, we’ve selected the top three best noise-canceling headphones that are comfortable, provide excellent sound quality, and will last you for many years.

Next month, Microsoft will allow you to pre-order brand-new headphones designed to work with devices running on Windows 10, which also means Cortana is ready to assist you. Nonetheless, the headphones will work with other devices as long as they have a 3.5mm audio jack.

One of the most interesting features is the noise-canceling dial built on the cup of one side. You can move the dial across thirteen different levels of noise-cancellation—a different approach to the typical on and off switch you see on other headphones. Moreover, if you remove the headphones from your head, the gesture will pause the sound, and will turn the audio on again the moment you place the headphones back on.

The Bluetooth Surface Headphones can also be used to answer calls, and is built to last at least 15 hours. If you’re running low on battery, you can plug in the headphones for five minutes to get an extra hour of listening time.

QuietComfort 35 II by Bose

One of Bose’s greatest products is the QuietComfort 35 II, which can be used with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. These noise-canceling headphones have two microphones, offers 20 hours of listening time on a full charge, and can be used with and without a wire.

Unlike the Surface Headphones by Microsoft, the QuietComfort 35 II only offers three settings for noise-cancellation, but it does have another feature called “Acoustic Noise Cancelling”. This technology can “measure, compare and react to outside noise, then cancels it with the opposite signal”, according to Bose. You can also connect these to the Bose app for additional sound customization.

Designed with materials that don’t corrode nor are affected by impact, these noise-canceling headphones by Bose are truly high-class.

Bose offers another brilliant noise-canceling headphone known as the QuietComfort 20. These are perfect for those who are more active while traveling. Designed to securely stay in your ear, these Bose headphones move as you move, and work either with an Android or an Apple device (so make sure you purchase the right one).

One of our most favorite feature about the QuietComfort 20 is its Aware mode, allowing you to listen to your favorite sounds without entirely turning them off. This is perfect for those who want to be more aware of their surroundings—be it walking around at night, or running through busy streets during the day.

The QuietComfort 20 noise-canceling headphones require no charging so you can use them for however long you like. Plus, with a touch of a button, you can switch from music to answering an incoming call. It’s easy as that!
