Airline safety videos tend to be boring, and we have to admit, not everyone really pays attention to it. Nonetheless, they do provide vital information to keep us safe in the event of an incident and an evacuation is necessary. So to keep passengers focused on the screen in front of them, carriers are reinventing their videos in the hopes that passengers will put down their headphones, turn off their music on their smartphones, and concentrate on the screen in front of them.
And to that, here are some quirky and entertaining airline safety videos we find ourselves watching more than once.
Virgin Atlantic takes a less traditional approach in their safety videos by making it into a cartoon story, where the passenger who ends up falling asleep during the instructions, is the one who actually plays out the safety video in his dream.
Hainan Airlines also uses the cartoon method to tell a cute, funny story with tea toys. The main toy character, Atang, goes on an adventure in an airplane, which becomes the center of the video.
One of our favorite airlines, Turkish Airlines, uses characters from the LEGO film to create this entertaining safe video that debuted this year. However, the way the story is told, it might make you think that it’s telling us to not to follow the instructions.
Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand is known for making some interesting videos, and they are constantly changing it up. The most recent one uses the music from “It’s Tricky” by RUN-DMC. The airline got a group of about 600 actors and musicians to create this entertaining safety video that will have you dancing in your seat.
