With love in the air, and Valentine’s Day just a few days away, couples are (or have already begun) planning the details of how they will be spending the day, or even a few days, celebrating the day of love. From mini getaways to far-away destinations, choosing a place to spend time with your loved one can be hard to decide. So if you’re thinking of taking a break, here are a few of the world’s best cities (aside from Paris) for couples to enjoy their time together.

Spain has some amazing cities that are absolutely gorgeous, and sometimes you can’t pick just one! Rather than heading to Madrid or Barcelona, we recommend booking a flight to San Sebastian, located in the Basque country. The city is on the coast, so phenomenal views are a given, and with San Sebastian being a vacation getaway for royals throughout the centuries, it’s a destination designed for the grandeur traveler. From cobbled streets, luxurious hotels and high-end boutiques, to beaches and amazing cuisine, San Sebastian is one of the best cities for couples. If you do plan a trip there with your significant other, don’t miss visiting the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, La Concha Beach and Monte Urgull.

Many may not think of Lithuania as a place for couples, but the city of Vilnius will surprise you. First mentioned in documents dating back to 1323, Vilnius is an ancient city that is now a beautiful picturesque destination with too many coffee shops (who said that was bad?), amazing views, interesting museums (the Genocide Museum), cute shops, a Jewish quarter, and a must-visit palace known as Verkiai Palace established in the 18th century. If a little city is the place you want to spend your time in, then make your way to one of Europe’s lesser-known destinations—Vilnius.

If you have yet to visit Bruges, then it’s time to book a trip to this magical city with your significant other. Bruges is one of the world’s best cities for couples because of its medieval feel, cobbled streets with cafes and restaurants, a canal you can take a stroll by, and even horse-drawn carriages available take you around. Belgium’s little city is a perfect getaway, and if you’re planning your next trip here—even if it’s a stopover city—we recommend you visit The Market Square, Belfry of Bruges, St Salvator’s Cathedral, and Saint John’s Hospital (which offers visitors over 800 years of history).

Prague is a gorgeous city and a must-visit, especially for those traveling as a couple. Prague is a romantic getaway offering its visitors castles to explore, restaurants to dine at, picturesque spots throughout the city, and churches that are not only amazing but are also located in some of the best spots in the city. If you’re planning on a getaway to one of Europe’s beautiful destinations, make sure to check off the following on your list: the Prague Castle, Jewish Ghetto, a cruise on the Vltava and Riegrovy Sady (a park loved by the locals). And if you love a good night out, Prague has a fantastic nightlife that keeps you going until the sun rises.

Marrakesh is another destination that is perfect for couples. The African city is full of wonderful people and sites that will make you and your partner feel like you’re on an Arabian adventure. Marrakesh offers its visitors beautifully decorated buildings, mosques, amazing food, souqs (traditional markets), and a palace that will make you want to redecorate your home. Plus, the city offers brilliant spas designed to make you and your partner relax and really enjoy your time away from home. Heading to Marrakesh? Don’t forget to make your way to Jemaa el-Fnaa, Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs and Menara gardens to learn and experience the city’s culture and learn about its past.
