Chinese carriers such as Hainan Airlines, China Airlines and China Eastern have a terrific business and first class products. Last year, China Eastern revealed another new business class on the A350 that’s better than some first class seats, and now, another one of the country’s airlines, China Southern, released an upgraded premium seat on the A350 as well.
Set to be available this July, China Southern A350 business class seats are set in a 1-2-1 configuration—all 28 of them have direct aisle access. The airline chose the Recaro CL6710 seat design for their premium cabin, which are very lightweight (about 176 pounds each), spacious and have a generous amount of storage area.

The above image is the basic Recaro CL6710 seat that airlines can modify to their liking. Unfortunately, China Southern opted for a bland palette. These new China Southern A350 business class seats are a basic blue color with light wood accents. The good part about the seat is that the carrier opted for leather rather than fabric (easier to maintain and keep clean). The exact seat size has not yet been revealed, but Recaro does advertise the CL6710 to be a “hotel room above the clouds”. Of course, we don’t expect it to be on par with China Eastern business class or China Airlines business class, which are much more luxurious.
China Southern A350 business class seat features an enclosed storage space for your wallet and phone, located right above the large side table with a built-in mirror. There are also a few other smaller compartments around the seat to hold your other belongings out of sight.
China Southern A350 business class does convert into a full-flat bed and has a headrest that can be positioned in six different ways. A removable controller can be found on the side for the large entertainment screen (size unknown) and below it a separate panel to adjust the seat position to whatever is most comfortable for you.
Each China Southern A350 business class seat is equipped with AC and USB sockets to keep your devices charged at all times, a large tray table, and even a designated cubby to store your shoes.
Currently, China Southern will be flying the new A350s domestically in July, and come September, the airline is planning using them for direct flights between Beijing and London. Stay tuned to find out more about these business class seats.
