Turkey recently opened a new airport in Istanbul (IST) and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Since Turkish Airlines moved its hub from Ataturk to Istanbul Airport, the airline has invested in developing a total of five lounges at the new airport. Three are already open and two more are on their way—each one will be open to a different set of passengers and members including business and/or first class passengers, members with a Miles&Smiles Elite and Elite Plus status, Star Alliance Gold members and travelers that are part of the Corporate Club program.

The two newer lounges being developed are called Exclusive Lounge and Arrival Lounge and will open this summer 2019. The current three lounges are called Business Lounge, Miles&Smiles Lounge, which opened this past April 2019, and Domestic Lounge, which opened in December 2018. Not much is known about the Exclusive Lounge and Arrival Lounge except that these will offer travelers a mouthwatering Turkish and Western buffet and a menu with a la carte options, bar, private suites to recoup and rest from the busyness of the airport, shower suites, and plenty of seating including chaise chairs.
One of the three open Turkish Airlines lounges, the Business Lounge, features 60,000 square feet of space with a museum, enough seats for 765 customers, 13 shower suites, storage lockers, Wi-Fi kiosks, a business station with computers and printers, conference rooms, an open kitchen next to the dining area, and a viewing area with TVs and individual seats (each television shows something different). There’s even a separate, darker room with more seating surrounded by glass for those who want to be somewhere with less noise and light with an adjoining library and a prayer room.

The second Turkish Airlines lounge that’s currently open, Miles&Smiles Lounge, also expands 60,000 square feet and can seat up to 765 travelers. This lounge features 11 shower rooms, golf simulators, one of the best play areas for kids you may ever find in any lounge, delectable local and Western cuisine, library, conference rooms, video gaming section, prayer room, and a VR experience is said to be available in the near future.

The third open Turkish Airlines lounge is the Domestic Lounge, which was the first one to open out of all of them. Unlike the other lounges, accessible via the terminal, this one has its own entrance outside of the terminal. Those who are flying domestically (business, specific Miles&Smiles members and Corporate Club members) can access this lounge. The Domestic Lounges has a prayer room, TV area with single seats (each screen shows something different), play space for kids with lots of room, glass conference rooms, working area with Apple computers and printers, and a separate gaming area. This Turkish Airlines lounge offers customers full meals and snacks as well as soft drinks, liquors, wine and beer. Once your plane is ready to board, a bus will come by and pick you up to take you right up to the airplane.
Regardless of which Turkish Airlines lounge you access, they are all spectacular. Have you had a chance to experience any one of them?
