Etihad Airways, an award-winning and certified four-star airline, has a phenomenal business class, but their first class is even better. From the fine dining and all-enclosed suite to the leather chair that converts into a fully-flat bed and a room made for two, Etihad First Class is an experience to remember.

Available on the A380 with a total of 9 closed suites, Boeing 777 with a total of 8 closed suites, and Boeing 787 with a total of 8 closed suites, Etihad Airways First Class will make you feel like a royal. It’s important to note that there’s a big difference between first class on the A380 versus the Boeing 777 or 787. The A380 is the largest jumbo jet and can support a larger suite that’s more of an Apartment, whereas the Boeing 777 and 787 are smaller and thus the suites are reduced to similar sizes found on some other airlines such as China Eastern or Oman Air.

Flying on the A380 or Boeing in Etihad First Class? Let’s take a closer look at the premium cabin and some differences found on their Airbus versus Boeing.

Regardless of which aircraft you’re flying on, Etihad first class seat has been designed with their signature colors of browns and golds, featuring a large chair with plenty of room to spread out in—each seat has 80-inches of pitch and 29.5-inches of width (the first class seat on the Boeing 787 only offers a width of 26 inches). The brown leather chair is very comfortable in the upright and fully-flat position yet it doesn’t have the best recline.

Aside from the seat, there’s an ottoman (seatbelt included) on the opposite side for a travel companion to sit with you during the flight and join you for a multi-course meal, a few drinks or even just tea. On the A380, there’s no ottoman, rather a large couch opposite of your seat that converts into a twin bed—the seat and bed are completely separate from each other allowing you to easily switch between the two without having to reposition any part of the seat.

Other features include a vanity with a mirror right in your seat, small cooling storage for your drinks near the armrest, A/C and USB sockets, separate control for the 24-inch HD (4K on some aircraft) touch entertainment screen and lighting, and plenty of storage space underneath the couch/ottoman. Each passenger receives luxurious bedding, pajamas and an ACQUA DI PARMA amenity kit, which comes with lip balm, cologne/perfume and body lotion by Colonia, as well as an eye mask, socks, toothbrush and toothpaste. If you need a razor and shaving cream, hair comb or earplugs, you will have to ask for it from a flight attendant.

One other stark difference is the shower room and onboard bar found on the A380. The bar offers passengers two couches, coffee table, two large entertainment screens and a self-serve minibar. It’s the perfect place to spend some time in if you ever need a break away from your personal suite.
