Garuda Indonesia is one of the few certified five-star airlines in the world based on Skytrax, which takes service, product and home base service into consideration. For many years, the Airline has remained in the top ten of having the World’s Best Cabin Crew (even winning the title several times) and has been in the top ten list for World’s Best First Class. The only aircraft Garuda Indonesia offers first class seats is on their three-class Boeing 777-300ER, and it’s onboard product is well-received. If you find yourself booked with a first class ticket on Garuda Indonesia, here’s what you can expect onboard your flight.

The cabin colors have been decorated in browns and golds—a common theme found in other first class cabins including Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways—with mood lighting and stars that light up when it’s time to relax and sleep.

In the cabin there are a total of eight private first class suites in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each one features a sliding door to allow for complete privacy regardless of which seat you select. Traveling with a plus one? The two middle seats have a sliding panel that can be lowered where you can both enjoy spending time together and even sharing meals.

Garuda Indonesia ergonomically designed first class seat offers you 82 inches of pitch and 22 inches of width that can be converted into a fully-flat bed. There’s also a monitor on the side of the armrest to control various functions around you including the reading light, seat positions and air vent. A separate, detachable control is located inside the armrest large enough to store a water bottle (placed sideways), amenity kit, mobile phone, and any other smaller personal belongings. Another smaller compartment is located at the far end of the seat next to the ottoman where you’ll find the noise-canceling headphones. And between the two compartments, you’ll encounter the very large tray table with a faux wood finish for an added touch of elegance.

Additional features include an ottoman equipped with a seatbelt for those who want to wine and dine with a fellow traveler, 23.5-inch touch entertainment screen, small yet very handy closet for your suit, jacket or any other item you don’t want to crease or wrinkle during the flight, and a stationary with a pen and immigration form located inside a leather binder.

Aside from the seat, each passenger receives a luxurious duvet, large sleeping pillow, small pillow perfect for your neck or lower back, pajamas and Aqua de Lowes amenity kit. The kit comes with body lotion, perfume/cologne, and face moisturizer by Aqua de Lowes, as well as wooden brush, toothpaste, toothbrush, shoehorn, eye mask, earplugs, lip balm and socks.

As far as the service, each Garuda Indonesia first class passenger will have their shoes removed and placed in shoe bags by a flight attendant who will then place slippers on your feet. (The slippers are well-made and quite nice—you may even want to take them home after the flight.) No wonder they have one of the world’s best cabin crews! The overall experience is phenomenal and you will not be the least bit dissapointed—from the product and cuisine to the service and amenities. Garuda Indonesia first class is one of the best in the industry, and if you ever have a chance to experience it, you’ll most likely agree.
