Johannesburg International Airport has just revealed a brand new British Airways lounge, and it’s cozy, welcoming and comforting for those who end up spending time there.

Spanning a total of 9472 square feet, the British Airways lounge in Johannesburg offers up to 247 visitors of space to dine, relax, work and recharge. Similar to the lounge in JFK that the airline opened earlier this year, the updated lounge in Johannesburg supports the similar color palette of blue and grey with some splashes of red in the dining area, open to first class passengers only.

The velvet couches, brown leather chairs and marble tables in the first class dining section brings about a vintage atmosphere with a modern twist. First class passengers are able to choose from a delicious a la carte menu…

…whereas business class passengers have the option to dine from a buffet stocked with salad, hot and cold options, cheese, charcuterie, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

The British Airways lounge in Johannesburg features a designated seating area with power outlets and USB plugs to keep you charged at all times. The airline has “carefully planned” the lighting throughout the lounge so that it can be dimmed “to reflect the time of day”. It’s easier on the eyes and it helps passengers adjust as they travel from one time zone to another.

For those who love to have a drink at a bar can enjoy their favorite cocktail at the lobby bar prepared by the staff. And if you need an endless caffeine fix, you can head to the same area to grab a coffee-based drink at the self-serve espresso machine.

The British Airways lounge in Johannesburg is accessible to those flying in business or first class on British Airways or a Club World partner airline, those holding an Executive Club Gold and Silver credit card and customers who hold a Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire status.

British Airways will continue to remodel other lounges throughout the world, including the ones at Geneva Airport, Chicago O’Hare and London Heathrow, and we can’t wait to see how they turn out.
