Milan is not only one of the top shopping and fashion cities in the world, but it’s also one of the most-visited cities in the European Union. Almost 9 million tourists visit the beautiful city of Milan every year, and although the summer months are the most popular months to explore Milan, we love touring and checking out the events in February during the low-season.

From Fashion Week and Opera to Carnevale and soccer matches, here are our top picks for all the events happening in Milan in February for you to enjoy.

Fashion Week

One of the most sought-after events for those who love and are in the fashion industry is Milan Fashion Week, which happens each year in February. For 2020, the event is held from the 18th through the 24th with more than 150 events happening throughout Milan. Aside from celebrity spotting, you can purchase tickets for events such as Mad Mood, featuring young designers just making a breakthrough, Launch Party, celebrating independent brands, or Fashion Art and More where you can watch fashion, luxury and art come to life. The Opera in Milan is in full swing during the winter season, which is why seeing a performance in February is ideal. Plus, it’s a good excuse to take a break from the cold weather outside. For 2020, Teatro Alla Scala is showing the famous Romeo and Juliet, a three-hour opera running through the 16th of February. It’s a wonderful performance not to be missed. For tickets, click here.

To experience the grandeur of the Carnevale festival, you have to go to Venice. However, if you’re in Milan during this time, you can still partake in the festivities, which always occur before Lent. This year’s main event will be held on the 25th of February, where jugglers, floats, dancers and masked performers parade through the city and end up at Piazza Duomo. A few days prior to the main parade, there are other smaller celebrations around the city center featuring music, food and entertainment for you to check out as well.

This year is the year of the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship (also known as Euro 2020), where 20 European nations play against each other to win the title and trophy as the best team in all of Europe. Although the first match of Euro 2020 doesn’t start until the 12th of  June, you can catch a UEFA Champions League game in February. Unlike Euro 2020 where nations compete against each other, the Champions League is a contest by the top-division clubs in Europe. The first game is Atalanta versus Valencia on the 19th of February and Inter Milan versus Ludogorets on the 27th of February. If you’ve yet to watch a soccer game live, then this may be your chance!

February is a busy month for Milan, and if you’re planning your upcoming getaway to this thriving destination, we hope you check out some of the top events happening around the city.
