After three years, South African Airways (SAA) has finally released its new business class seat aboard their A330-300s, and it’s slicker than ever.
Kim Thipe, head of marketing at SAA, said: “We wanted to create a strong identity that was both reflective of South Africa’s rich cultural heritage and designed to appeal to both domestic and international passengers”.
So what does this new design feature and look like?

The interiors have been designed with warm, neutral colors and finishes that have a relaxed yet elegant feel. The seats are upholstered and convert into a fully-flat bed with a seat pitch of 73 inches and a width of 23.7 inches.
Each seat comes with a 15-inch entertainment touch-screen, offering you hundreds of movies, shows, games and music to keep you busy for the entire duration of your flight.
The designers made sure that each seat offers more privacy than their older designs, all with direct aisle access. Goodbye, middle seat!
The seat comes equipped with a wireless headset, a storage area for your personal devices such as your cell phone, tablet and laptop, AC and USB power sockets, reading light and seat controls—all within hand’s reach. There’s even a stowage area for smaller and more valuable items like your watch, rings, wallet and more, which you can hide away from sight. And to keep everything as efficient as possible, a cocktail table has been flawlessly fused with the rest of the seat.
Although this is a big win for the airline, which was overdue for an upgrade, a spokesman for SAA stated, “the new (A330) seats won’t be installed in other aircraft.”
