Alitalia, Italy’s flag carrier, flies to 32 different countries across five continents. It’s also part of the SkyTeam alliance, which allows passengers to expand their connections worldwide. Although Alitalia is currently looking for another airline company to take it under its wing, it still continues to offer great service and products in their business class cabin, dubbed Magnifica. Here’s what you can expect on board:
Each Alitalia business class seat is made from leather, which shouldn’t be a surprise since we know Italian’s are known for their leather goods. The premier cabin is set in a 1-2-1 configuration, with the middle seats designed in a way that’s efficient for those traveling together. If you are a solo traveler, we recommend one of the window seats for more privacy.
From the moment you sit down, you will notice a few things: the seats convert into a fully-flat bed, offers a massaging feature (something you don’t find too often in a business class), a side table, and a seat that’s about 21 to 22 inches wide (depending on the type of aircraft you’re flying) with a pitch of 46 inches. But don’t worry, the footrest allows you to comfortably stretch out, even for those of you who are on the taller side.
As for the entertainment factor, you can enjoy watching the latest films, shows and track your flight via a digital map on a 15-inch monitor using their noise-canceling headphones. The seat comes with a touch-screen remote that you can use to select what you want to view, and can even modify the treble and bass to your liking.
Aside from the seat itself, Alitalia business class passengers receive a Bulgari amenity kit filled with Bulgari fragrance, lip balm, cream for your face and one for your hands, aftershave (for men), hairbrush/comb, as well as socks, eye mask, toothbrush, toothpaste and earplugs. Bulgari products are high-class so this may be an amenity kit that you wouldn’t mind taking with you when you get off the airplane.
Alitalia business class is known to have some amazing cuisines served 30,000 feet above the ground, which are abundant in flavor. Although the menu changes, you can enjoy award-winning recipes such as lamb loin with hazelnut crust, pizza, roast salted codfish with polenta, chocolate or Duchess of Parma cake, and others. While you enjoy several courses, make sure to pair them with their carefully selected wines, and each month features a different region. Finish everything off with a freshly-brewed Lavazza coffee or espresso (of which there are three different ones to choose from).
How was your experience with Alitalia in business class? Would you fly it again?
