Delhi in the summertime can be brutal, which is why heading to India’s capital territory during the winter is not only more comfortable but also easier to explore. Plus, the festivities and concerts you can attend combined with the sites and endless eating options will make you want to fly to Delhi when much of the world is snowed in.

With Fahrenheit temperatures ranging in the low 70’s during the day and high 40’s in the evenings, expect to see a larger amount of travelers from around the world doing and seeing as much as they can because it’s a busy season. So if you’re one to join in and spend wintertime in Delhi, here’s where we recommend you should go.

National Street Food Festival

Love food? Then this one’s for you. From the 25th to the 29th of December, locals join in on a National Street Food Festival where chefs from all levels sell their delicious eats outdoors. It’s a street food haven and one you don’t want to miss. You’ll be able to sample foods from over 25 regions of India—each one unique in its own way. The event is held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Another event that cannot be missed is Zomaland, held from the 13th to the 15th of December. It’s a substantial carnival featuring endless food options, rides, amazing drinks, performances, art displays, games, creative spaces and plenty of music for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age. You’ve never seen a carnival such as this one! The event is also held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

India Craft Week

India’s art and creativity are magnificent, and one way to see them outside of the museums and historical sites is during India Craft Week, which comes alive from the 4th to the 8th of December. During this festival, you can examine the exquisite artwork created by wonderful craftsmen and designers both independent and ones larger in scale. Aside from displays, there are live expositions, cultural productions, talks and even workshops you can take part in. India Craft Week is held at the GMR Square in Aerocity, Delhi.

Yoga Retreat: Amatra By The Ganges

Due to the favorable weather, booking a yoga retreat can be one of the best experiences in India during the wintertime. There are plenty of luxurious retreats to choose from, but one of the top ones is the Amatra by the Ganges in Haridwar. Surrounded by nature, the retreat offers visitors more than just yoga classes outdoors. There are spa sessions, water adventures, rafting, hiking and more. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will have you feeling refreshed by the end of your trip—both body and soul.
